Dating a Cougar by Donna McDonald

Dating a Cougar by Donna McDonald

Review:

I have to say I really enjoyed this book. I picked it up because it was a freebie and now definitely want to continue on with the series. I always love a good May/December romance, and this one certainly does not disappoint. Alexa Ranger was such a hot character, she even had a hot name. 50 never "read" so good! Casey was just the perfect match for her. He never backed down from a fight, and wasn't intimidated by her success. These two had some funny bickering back and forth that really had me laughing, and some good, but not great love scenes, but they were good enough. I am hoping down the line there will be a book with Jenna ( Alexa's daughter) and Seth (Casey's cousin/nephew...can't remember which one) getting back together because those two were certainly made for each other. Thos is my first read from this author, and i can't wait to read more about this group of friends

Jersey Angel By Beth Ann Bauman

Jersey Angel by Beth Ann Bauman

Review:

Rating undecided. Jersey Angel was good but ended so randomly that you dont get to find out about Joey and Angel's relationship or what happens to the rest of the characters. The story plot of the book was good, I just felt that the ending let the book down. I dont think it's worth anymore than 3 stars but I am undecided if 2 stars would be a better rating.

One Perfect Night By Rachael Johns

One Perfect Night By Rachael Johns

Review:

One Perfect Night was a really sweet and fast paced story. I read it in one sitting and loved every minute of it. I love getting lost inside a good contemporary romance, and I did just that with this book. It’s super funny and emotional at times. I truly enjoyed getting to know Cameron and Peppa and watch their love blossom. The way they meet was hilarious and the whole encounter had me laughing out loud.

Both Cameron and Peppa, have had a bad experience with their previous relationship. So when they start messing around, they both agree to keep things casual and fun. No strings attached. But things begin to get really hot and heavy for the two and to top it all off, something happens that changes both their lives forever.

One Perfect Night is definitely a great book if you’re looking for a fast read with lots of humor and romance mixed inside. I enjoyed it and would definitely like to read more books by Rachel Johns. I am a huge romance junkie and this was a nice fix. A Good Choice for Reading!

Oliva Frost lived in Boston for the last 5 years. But last fall bought a early nineteen hundred home in her hometown Knights Bridge to slowly turn into a business. Oliva planned to open a place for weddings, parties and someday mini conference stays.  Oliva is a graphic designers and she had a lunchen date with her biggest client.

Her friend Maggie she had been helping her get her work turned around was comming to Boston and they planned to get together but Maggie cancelled and then her business lunchen was cancelled by text. Oliva decided to go to lunch by herself and at the restraunt she saw her friend with her client at lunch. Oliva could not believe her so called friend Maggie was stealing her client.

Oliva was hurt and decided that she would go back now to her hometown and start fixing up her home. She was going to freelance for her firm till she was ready to open her business. The house stood by itself except a old beaten up home with junk and weeds in the yard. It was close to a Dam that used to be four towns but the goverment years ago decided to move them so they could have plenty of water for Boston.

The owner had bought the home two years ago and it stood empty getting worse.
So she wrote to owner in California and asked them to clean up yard or let her do it.
Dylan McCaffrey got her letter and he had never heard of the place or new nothing about it. Found out his dad had bought the house right before he died. Dylan dad was a treasure hunter. Dylan was a professional hockey player till he got injured and cut. Then he helped his best friend Noah, since kindergarden start his business and they just went public so now he was rich. He decided to go to Knights Bridge and see what his dad was doing their. So Dylan went to clean up yard and decide what to do with the house.

So Dylan and Oliva got caught up in figuring out the mystery of what treasure his father was looking for.
Oliva is close to her family but they have a bunch of issues to work out. Dylan gets closer to his deceased father as he figures the mystery out and keeps coming back to Oliva.  It kept my interest in the book till the end. I will read more books by Carla in the future. I was given this ebook to read from Netgalley in exchange for honest review.

Review:

I dont know what is it with these books, but I seem to be getting bored of them now. The price of them on Amazon  for a 4-6 chapter book is unrealistic and unfairly priced. I waited for them to be grouped together and even then they seem to not be worth it in season 2. The character dont seem to mature and are constantly making the same mistakes again and again. On the other hand if you are looking for a quick chilled out book to read for a few hours ( yes i mean a few hours for all 9 books) then if you can borrow them I would recommend them.

I give these books around a 3/5 stars

The Witches of Santa Anna

Series: The witches of Santa Anna #1-7

As the books are rather short I thought it would be best to group these books in one book review.

Review:

The complete set of season one of the Witches of Santa Anna series of novellas...Includes CLAIMED, TRICKED, RUMORED, HUSHED, PURSUED, ENTICED, and RUINED.

Natalia Moore is the new girl at Santa Anna Prep, and all she wants to do is fly under the radar -- get to her classes, meet a few friends, and try not to make a total fool of herself in the meantime. But when handsome and popular Campbell Elliot goes out of his way to be nice to the new girl, Natalia's plan to go unnoticed flies out the window.

Cam's hot, but he's completely off-limits. Raine Marsden, the most popular and meanest girl in school, has had her eye on him ever since the summer. And Raine doesn't like competition.

When Cam goes as far as inviting Natalia to the exclusive weekend party at Raine's house, Raine sets her sights on a new victim. But what Natalia doesn't know is that Raine and her friends are no ordinary mean girls. They have powers most people can only dream of, and nobody will stand in the way of what they want. And what Raine wants is Campbell.

The Witches of Santa Anna series of novellas, proves just how far true love will go and that nothing--not even pure evil--can change your destiny.

My Review - This book was a quick read for me. I liked how it was seven different books put into one book. I think that the rest of the series unless they are also grouped or very cheap I'll wait to buy them as I can't see myself spending £2 for 4 or 5 chapters. Raine got on my nerves all through the book even before I knew who she was. I didn't like her from the first mention of her in the book. I felt the same way about Becca and Terri. Overall a pretty good book. I gave it 3/4 stars

Kindle Freebie!!

Freaks by Tess Gerritsen
(Rizzoli and Isles short story #8.5)

As a fan of the Rizzoli and Isles series by Tess Gerritsen. I spotted this book i the top 100 free kindle books and I just had to have it .

Review:
Freaks is a Rizzoli and Isles short story offered free on Kindle. The story involves the emaciated body of a teenager found in an abandoned church. Screams had been heard coming from the church and the victim Kimberly Rayner appeared to have been strangled. An open coffin looking like it had been recently occupied but when Rizzoli managed to catch the resident Henry Lucas he denied harming his girlfriend and looked genuinely distraught. Lucas claims not to be human and when Kimberly's father turns up he is convinced that this 'freak' murdered his daughter. It's up to Maura Isles to determine the true cause of death. Very short but with a nice plot twist, this little freebie dose of Rizzoli and Isles will keep you happy until the release date of Silent Girl.

Happy new Year!!

Happy New year! Now the near year has started and while looking how many books i read last year i aim to up my game and read at least 50 books this year. Keep an eye on my goodreads challenge widget on the right  hand side of my blog.

The Surgeon-Tess Gerritsen

The Surgeon by Tess Gerritsen
(Rizzoli and Isles #1)

Format type: Kindle

Review:

The Surgeon deals with a serial killer who hunts down troubled women and cuts them up with the kind of precision which could come only to a man of medicine. When multiple murders lead the investigating team to a surviving victim of an old serial killer case that occurred a couple of years ago they start understanding the pattern. 'The Surgeon' ,the nick name that the killer gains shows a profile and style that matches the murderer who was killed by his victim two years ago. The theory of copy cat murderer or a ghost from past is what forms the rest of the book.

The book is a medical thriller and with its fast pace and attention to details it just about brings on goosebumps. Maybe that is due to my non familiarity with the genre but from what I read about the book it sure had that effect on others too. Though the story revolves around the Surgeon, his obsession with Dr Catherine Cordell and the investigative officer Moore , this also the introductory book for the female lead investigator Jane Rizzoli, who goes on to feature in the other books by Gerritsen. The understanding the investigative process , the forensic , the psycho analysis and the mere detailing shows that Gerritsen is an author who knows how to hold her reader's attention.

I have heard good things about the other books in the series where the admirable cop Jane Rizzoli is the central character. I might just pick them up and will also try to catch the series Rizzoli & Isles. If you want to try something in the genre may be this is a good book to start.

I give this book a :
